Over the last 10 years, the British monarchy has changed considerably. Not only do we have King Charles on the throne now, rather than his late mother Queen Elizabeth II, but we also have a different number of working royals too.
This is because King Charles and Queen Camilla, the head of the family, are supported by some very loyal working royals.
This includes the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie. There are also lesser-known working royals, which include the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
Between these working royals, royal duty seems to get done, and done well.
However, there is no denying that the monarchy has fewer working royals than it once did, which some may see as a concern. However, it seems that this is not something Express readers are worried about.
The poll, which ran from 6am on May 8 until 1pm on May 12, found that most readers do not think more working royals are needed.
Out of a total of 2218 votes, 1310 people said no – meaning they don’t think the monarchy needs to have more working royals.
On the other hand, 842 readers said yes, they do think the monarchy needs more working royals. 66 readers said they don’t know.
Since taking the throne in 2022, King Charles has had the ambition to slim down the monarchy and cut costs, and he has done so.
It is not known whether Prince William, when he one day becomes King, will take a similar approach.
