Royal insiders say Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was loaned $23 million to pay off accuser Virginia Giuffre by his family — and has yet to pay back a single cent.

The disgraced former prince, who was stripped of his titles over his association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was reportedly loaned £12,000,000 ($23 million) for the 2022 settlement, the majority of which (£7,000,000) came from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Another £3,000,000 came from his late father Prince Philip’s estate, while his brother stumped up £1.5 million, according to The Sun.

Ms Giuffre, who died by suicide in Western Australia back in April 2025, alleged that she was trafficked to have sex with Andrew three times when she was 17 by Epstein.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing but settled with Ms Giuffre outside of court.

A source said the former prince had “not paid back a penny”.

Insiders say it was expected Andrew would use funds from the sale of his $36 million Swiss chalet — but the property was saddled with a huge mortgage.

“As far as anyone knows he still has not repaid a single penny of the millions he borrowed,” the source said.

“The money from the Royal family bought her silence but denied Virginia her day in court and the chance to openly challenge his account of what happened.”

A source said Andrew lied to the family about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted child sex offender.

You can’t imagine that the Duke of Edinburgh ever would have expected that his savings would end up being spent on hush money.

“They bought his lies and helped him try and make the problem go away,” they said.

“His own mother, the late Queen, was left heartbroken by the scandal.

“But she could not face banishing Andrew, who was still her beloved son.

“She knew this was a problem that his brother Charles would tackle once she was gone — it only pushed the scandal down the road.

“People will be shocked to know so much came from the estate of his father Prince Philip, who had died a year earlier.

“You can’t imagine that the Duke of Edinburgh ever would have expected that his savings would end up being spent on hush money.”

The news comes amid revelations that the former prince’s daughter, Princess Beatrice, was a witness to a phone call in which her mother defended Epstein’s honour.

The admission, unearthed in the latest batch of the Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice, stem from emails between Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Epstein and her then-spokesperson James Henderson in 2011.

The previous year, the former duchess had come under fire for accepting money from Epstein. In 2011, she commissioned an exclusive interview in the Evening Standard with Geordie Greig, who was the publication’s editor at the time, in a bid to clear her name.

“I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me,” she said at the time.

But Epstein was reportedly unhappy with the way he was described in the article, and Ferguson reached out to Mr Henderson in an attempt to make amends.

In the email she revealed that Beatrice had witnessed a phone call where she spoke to the reporter to clarify that Epstein was not a paedophile.
