Raising a future heir to the British throne can’t be easy, but Kate Middleton is keeping it simple. The mom of three is reportedly focusing on one thing as she helps prepare her eldest son Prince George, 12, for his royal future, and, honestly, this makes so much sense for her.
Because Princess Kate is part of the royal family by marriage, she doesn’t have to necessarily teach George all the royal protocols like his dad will. Instead, she is reportedly just focusing on supporting and loving her son.

“She will never have a constitutional role, except as regent in a worst-case scenario, if George becomes king before age 18,” royal historian Marlene Koenig told Us Weekly. “She is there to be the loving, supportive mom in everything George does, because he is her son first and foremost.”

Koenig added that Prince William and his dad, King Charles III, have taken the lead in preparing George with “the knowledge and practice of their roles.”
From what we know about Kate, it makes sense that she isn’t too worried about the technical aspects of George’s upbringing or what he will do for the royal family. Instead, she simply has a family focused mindset, with him and his younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
Last year, insiders revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales enforce a normal routine at home with their three kids. “I think it would surprise people to see how ordinary things are at home,” the source told Daily Mail. “The children help with laying the table, clearing their plates when they’ve finished eating and helping with tidying up. There’s no preferential treatment.”
They added that Kate has “been determined to make sure her children’s home life is not disrupted,” and that their routine remains as “normal as possible.”
Royal expert and author Jennie Bond previously told OK! that Kate has a “revolutionary” way of parenting that’s focused on “mutual respect, understanding, and patience.” Bond explained that Kate’s way of parenting is about letting them express those emotions and sitting down to discuss them with the child, rather than ignoring the turmoil that growing up so often involves.”
“It is fantastic and I believe Catherine will very much be the leader in this and William will be the follower, he will have been learning from Catherine how to be a different kind of parent,” Bond continued, adding that Kate “explains why good manners are important and that kindness begets kindness and that inclusivity should be natural.”
