The royal siblings are likely looking forward to Halloween as much as any other kids. But this year, the spooky holiday is set to be extra special for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids Prince George, 12, and his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror that this is George’s last Halloween at home with his siblings before he heads off to secondary school in September. He may not feel the pull to dress up and go trick-or-treating once he’s a teen, making this Halloween more meaningful for the trio.

“From what we recently learned about George — William divulged that his son was quite a different character behind doors to the rather serious, impeccably behaved boy we see in public — I should think he still enjoys some boisterous Halloween fun with his siblings,” Bond told the outlet. She was referring to Prince William’s comments last month that although George and Louis are five years apart, they are more alike than we might think. “Behind closed doors it’s a completely different ball game,” he quipped.
In the interview with the Mirror, Bond added, “But life is obviously going to change for the family when George goes to his new school. He’ll probably start feeling a bit more independent and grown-up.”
As a mom, we know kids have to grow up eventually — but why is it so darn hard? I remember when Prince George was born like it was yesterday, so how is he about to become a teen and maybe not enjoy Halloween shenanigans anymore? Time is moving way too fast!
In the past, Middleton’s mom Carole Middleton shared some beloved autumn traditions with her family, which might hint at how the royal siblings enjoy this holiday as well. “Halloween is an Autumn highlight for me,” Carole wrote on Instagram. “I can still remember the fun and frights from my own childhood; the chance to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick-or-treating! I’ve even grown my own pumpkins this year, so I’m looking forward to decorating those with my loved ones.’”
Kate seems to love all things fall as well, as she revealed earlier this month that she made her own apple cider with her kids recently.
“We tried this at home with a hand press,” Middleton said, during a visit to an apple farm that makes cider with a pressing machine. “It was quite good fun with the children. It was very messy.”
Making new fall traditions is essential, especially as your kids start to grow up and lose interest in their childhood activities like trick-or-treating. With an involved mom like Kate, we’re sure Prince George will have just as much fun on future Halloweens as he does now!
