The Royals announced an addition to the TV broadcast team today, with Bridget Howard coming on as a sideline reporter. Joel Goldberg, who had sideline reporter duties before, will continue as the co-host of the pre- and post-game shows with Jeff Montgomery. Jake Eisenberg, Rex Hudler, Ryan Lefebvre, and Jeremy Guthrie will all return as well. Howard will work all home games and the road series in St. Louis. She is the first female member of a Royals TV broadcasting team.
Howard grew up in the Kansas City area and attended Blue Valley High School. Her father is David Howard, who played infield for the Royals from 1991 to 1997.
“Coming home to Kansas City to join the Royals broadcast team is truly a full-circle moment for me,” Howard said in a media release. “This is where the dream began, so the opportunity to represent my hometown team means more than I can put into words. I look forward to connecting with Royals fans and helping tell the stories that make this organization and this city so special.”
Howard has worked as a sideline reporter for college football and basketball games on TNT as well as the Unrivaled women’s basketball league. She also does play-by-play for the NWSL, Gainbridge Super League and select NCAA conference championships, and has been the studio host for Mountain West Network.
Howard’s first game is the Royals’ first broadcast of the spring, on Thursday night against the Rangers. Royals games this year will air on Royals.TV after the team ended their deal with FanDuel Sports Kansas City.
