Celebrities have rushed to send their condolences to Gabe’s loved ones after the tragic news was announced.
A RuPaul’s Drag Race crew member has tragically died after a “brief” battle with cancer. Tributes have been paid to Gabe Lopez after his mother, Connie Howard, confirmed his passing via her son’s Instagram account.
The Emmy-nominated songwriter, who was involved in songs for a number of shows, endured a “brief but intense battle” with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. On Monday, January 26, Connie shared that he died on Sunday as she opened up on Gabe’s cause of death.
Connie wrote: “We, the family, are heartbroken to lose our deeply loved Gabe and cannot imagine life without his joy and laughter, his generous love and sincere kindness. Gabe has so many wonderful people in his life.
“This is a deeply felt loss for all of us, but Gabe would want everyone to cherish the good memories and hold him forever in our hearts,” reports the Express.
Addressing his fans, Gabe’s mother added: “In the coming days, we will share a post about Gabe and what he meant to us. As we make arrangements to celebrate his life and love, we will share those with you.”
The late star’s comments were immediately flooded with heartfelt words and well wishes from devastated fans and celebrity pals.
Paris Hilton scribed: “I am so sorry for your loss. Sending love to everyone who knew and loved him. He wrote the @ParisAndPups theme song, and it was such a fun and special song to sing thanks to him. His music will live on.”
Actor Drew Seeley added: “Unreal, I am so so sorry to hear this. What a sweet, generous soul. Always felt heard and validated after talking to him; he had a real warm magnetism. Rest in peace.”
As American Idol singer, Jim Verraros echoed: “I don’t even know what to say. @gabelopez, you changed my life for the better. I will always hold you close in my heart.”
Performer Diane Warren shared: “Oh no, this is horrible and heart-breaking, shocking news. Sending love to you.”
Singer Belinda Carlisle also shared a tribute to her “beautiful friend”. She wrote: “I am so devastated and heartbroken to write this. I can’t remember being in so much pain.
“My beautiful friend, creative collaborator and producer of my last two albums, and an incredible artist in his own right, Gabe Lopez left his body last night.
“I can’t think of a nicer or more kind hearted person than he was, we had so much fun working together creating music for the past 12 years. I can’t imagine my life without him.
“Godspeed Gabe – you were always an angel, now it’s time to soar with all of those above I love you and will always hold you dear to me. May his music live forever.”
Gabe worked on many notable productions in TV and film, including the series Queen of the Universe (2021-2023), and the TV movie The B***h Who Stole Christmas (2021).
He was also instrumental behind the scenes on Monster High: The Movie (2022), The Other Two (2019-2023), and the Las Culturistas Culture Awards.
