He eventually discovers that his mission is to solve the mystery behind a substance that is gradually killing the Sun. As humanity’s last hope, Grace also learns that he has extraterrestrial company on board the spacecraft.
The movie’s unique setting appears to have resonated with early viewers, with multiple celebrities taking to social media to share their reactions to Project Hail Mary.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos gushed about the film in an X (formerly Twitter) update, writing, “Project Hail Mary is outstanding. Ryan Gosling is so talented he somehow conjures emotion and chemistry with his co-star, even though that co-star is an alien rock puppet! It’s an amazing film — huge kudos to the whole Amazon Studios team.”
