Sarah Ferguson has a habit of getting in and out of trouble, similar to her ex-husband Prince Andrew, and one reason is because the Royal Family bails her out, but it appears she may have run out of second chances with her latest humiliation.
The Duchess claimed to cut off all contact with convicted felon Jeffrey Epstein, but then sent him an email three weeks later, which was revealed on Monday with multiple charities dropping her as their patron, it’s being reported.
Sarah’s spokesperson claims she sent the email as a response to Epstein’s threats to sue her over an unpaid loan, but royal expert Andrew Lownie disagrees, that the two were on friendly terms, which can be seen in the tone and wording of the email.
We checked in with Mr. Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, asking if he was surprised about Sarah’s email to Epstein, and since he had been reserching the Duke and Duchess of York for four years, we had a feeling we knew what the answer was, but it was still good to hear it in his own words.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Lownie believed “she had kept in contact with Epstein long after she claimed to have cut contact. This included staying in one of his flats at least until 2013.”
A source close to the Palace believes Sarah was living in fear and that she was terrified of Epstein and his power, in which we asked Lownie about, who disagreed.
According to Lownie, he believes “the email is friendly,” with the author saying it comes across as if “their relations remained cordial.”
He said: “No, the email is friendly and their relations remained cordial.”
The email was sent from Sarah’s private email address on April 26, 2011, and at that point, Epstein had been released from prison, in which he was charged with procuring and soliciting a minor for prostitution to be incarcerarted a second time, in 2019, charged with sex trafficking minors.
Lownie helped clarify the timeline, saying: “He had come out several years before and had hosted Andrew for five days a few months earlier.”
He explained: “Epstein was not a threat. Her defamation worry is just an attempt to get herself off the hook.”

There’s a theory that Sarah’s public apology, back in 2008, was disingenous, she just did it for show, so possibly the email to Epstein was her true self, that she did still consider him a friend and confidant, in which we asked Lownie about.
The royal expert wrote us back with a one-word response, giving us his opinion: “Exactly.”
As Lownie points out in his tell-all book, this has been going on with Sarah since the beginning, getting in and out of trouble, when she married into the Royal Family in 1986. The thing is, she married out of the Royal Family in 1996, and it’s still going on.
In Lownie’s book, he includes a passage from a letter, written by Princess Margaret to the Duchess, which read:
You have done more to bring shame on the Royal Family than could ever have been imagined. Not once have you hung your head in embarrassment, even for a minute. Clearly you have never considered the damage you are doing us all. How dare you discredit us?
