Sarah Ferguson has reportedly been offered the opportunity to take part in tell-all interviews, but has turned them down. One is believed to have been a chance to interview with BBC’s Newsnight, the same show that broadcasted Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s infamous interview in 2019.
It was widely considered a public relations disaster. Andrew sat down for the explosive chat with Newsnight journalist Emily Maitlis. It has since been described as one of the worst PR attempts in history, after he sought to salvage public opinion over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Both Fergie and Andrew deny any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
In the one on one, the former prince remained unapologetic, describing Epstein’s behaviour as “unbecoming”.
He also famously claimed he could not sweat because he had a medical condition.
The interview was the start of Andrew’s massive decline in the eyes of the British public, it is thoughtl leading to a public backlash and his eventual downfall.
Fergie has reportedly been approached to give her side of the story – but sources say she is taking time to “reflect” while being holed up in a £2,000-a-night pine‑clad chalet in Austria, reports the Daily Mail.
The former duchess was seen earlier this week for the first time in months emerging from the rear of a black Mercedes people-carrier with tinted windows.
Her last official outing was alongside Andrew at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent seven months ago.
A source confirmed to The Sun that there has been growing media interest, but Fergie has not as yet agreed to any proposals.
They said: “She has had a lot of offers including from Newsnight but is spending her time reflecting and has no intention of speaking out.”
The former duchess has also fallen from grace and also endured a removal from Royal Lodge, along with Andrew.
Fergie and Andrew both also face continuing pressure from US lawmakers to come forward and testify about her and Andrew’s relationship with Epstein.
