According to broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard, Ferguson has been relying heavily on her closest staff as she copes with the upheaval.

The Daily Mail reported that she reached out to Epstein in 2011, despite previously vowing in an interview to cut ties and expressing “deep regret” over their association.

Her spokesperson told The Guardian that Ferguson was misled by Epstein and immediately distanced herself as soon as she understood the gravity of the accusations against him.

The representative said Epstein even threatened to sue her for defamation when she publicly condemned him “for associating him with pedophilia.” The disputed email, they explained, was sent under legal advice as she attempted to manage his escalating pressure.

“She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats,” the representative said.

More recently, Ferguson’s latest children’s book was quietly pulled before it ever reached shelves, according to data from NielsenIQ BookData.

The book, “Flora And Fern: Kindness Along The Way,” was originally scheduled for release on October 9, as announced in a Bookseller press statement, and later appeared on Amazon with a revised November 20 availability date. However, the listing has now disappeared entirely.

NielsenIQ BookData told the BBC that the title is officially marked as “withdrawn from sale” at the publisher’s request.

Waterstones, which previously said the publication date had simply been “moved” without a new timeline, confirmed they still haven’t received any further guidance from the publisher.

No official explanation has been offered for the withdrawal, but industry insiders believe the decision is likely tied to the ongoing controversies surrounding Ferguson. Book Brunch’s Neill Denny told the publication the move “makes total sense commercially,” noting that releasing a Ferguson title right now would be “poor timing.”

According to Denny, the publisher may choose to hold the book for several months or even a year until public sentiment settles.

“It’s not the sort of book that’s going to age, and you’re not risking a lot of money by holding it back,” he noted.
