A bathroom color can only take you so far; it’s the hardware that really makes it pop. All signs point to the idea that chrome is coming back, and for proof of how chic it can look, Sarah Paulson‘s bathroom is the perfect place to start.
The actress’s cozy Malibu home is alive with her subtly feminine style, from the living room to the tiniest powder room. Designed by Amy Kehoe of Nickey Kehoe Design, Sarah’s bathroom walls and ceiling are lined with luminous pink zellige tiles. Chrome faucets, shower, towel rack, and silver light fixtures bring the space to life. Amy states: ‘There’s no disconnect between Sarah’s personal style and her home style… She is really dialed in and has excellent taste in all things, and there is a current femininity to her style that’s so modern and thoughtful.’

If you are going to decorate with chrome, following Amy’s initiative and pair it with pink. This pairing is especially stylish together. Sophia deDomenico, the Los-Angeles-based designer and founder of Et Sal Interiors, explains: ‘Pink and chrome are a symbiotic odd pairing. Pink is a warm playful hue that softens adds a touch of feminine energy and softness to wherever it’s placed. Chrome is cool, sleek, industrial feeling and the tension this pairing creates is part of its magic.’
So, why does this material work so well for bathroom hardware? Sophia explains: ‘Chrome is similar to a mirror, it picks up surrounding tones and reflects them, paired with pink that chrome will amplify the depth of the color adding a warm earthy resonance in an unexpected way. It’s subtle and sophisticated.’
In addition to the reflectivity, the history of the look makes it a timeless classic. Kanika Bakshi Khurana, Founder and Principal Designer of Kanika Design, states: ‘Chrome, with its connotations to traditional bathroom decor is a gentle wink at vintage interiors (without ever feeling stale either). That nostalgic and clear mix is a big part of why it is making a comeback for 2026.’
To replicate the quiet luxury bathroom look of Sarah’s space, aim for balance.
Kanika advises: ‘When it comes to styling, the secret is moderation and uniformity. When repeated across taps, shower fittings, and accessories, chrome creates a comfortable finish. Combining it with more textured and ubiquitous touches, such as matte tiles or natural materials, keeps the gloss in check, giving a sense of refinement rather than being too varnished. I also suggest capping off surrounding elements with a calmer voice for contrast. When worn with care, this fusion manages to feel timeless and contemporary all at once.’
