Celebrity chef Poppy O’Toole returned to the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen after welcoming her baby girl

Celebrity chef Poppy O’Toole made her return to Saturday Kitchen following the birth of her daughter, receiving a warm welcome from presenter Matt Tebbutt.
The chef, who is a regular on the BBC show, welcomed her baby girl towards the end of last year. She was greeted with congratulations as the programme began on Saturday morning (January 24), reports the Express.
Host Matt, who recently apologised after a gaffe on BBC Breakfast, remarked: “Now, Poppy, good to have you back. You always deliver brilliant food. Recently, you delivered a baby. Congratulations, Poppy!”
The chef responded: “Thank you very much. She’s watching at home. In the hotel room.”
Matt couldn’t resist a light-hearted joke, quipping: “Staring at lights. That age, isn’t it? Looking at lights!”

Poppy, a TikTok sensation and author of The Potato Book, shared the happy news with followers in December that she and her husband, Tom Shattock, had become parents.
Taking to Instagram, she shared heartwarming photographs of her cradling her newborn beside a Christmas tree as she told fans: “The baby potato arrived last week, and she is doing amazingly. Thanks for all the love and messages.”
Poppy is known as the ‘Potato Queen’, so fans playfully suggested potato-inspired names such as Dauphinoise and Duchesse for her little one. However, the couple have yet to disclose their daughter’s actual name.
Following her announcement before Christmas, well-wishers flooded social media with messages of support, with one fan commenting on Instagram: “Congratulations, guys, she might be the best potato you’ve ever cooked.”

Another fan described it as “fantastic”, while someone else labelled it as “amazing news”. “So happy for you on the birthday of your spudlet!!!” exclaimed another, with many others said that Poppy’s baby girl was “adorable”.
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay also joined in the congratulations, commenting: “Congratulations to you both, sending lots of love from all the Ramsays.”
