Saturday Night Live UK has dropped a first-look at the big-name actor hosting this weekend’s episode. The British offshoot of the longstanding US comedy show debuted last weekend, with SNL icon Tina Fey overseeing the premiere as guest host.
Like the American counterpart, a new guest host will lead each episode – and this Saturday it is the turn of Fifty Shades’ Jamie Dornan alongside musical guests Wolf Alice.
A first-look promo skit has now landed ahead of this weekend’s edition, showing Dornan preparing for the show before learning that cast member Al Nash has gotten to the final two to be the next James Bond.

Barely hiding his jealousy, the Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar actor tries his best serious “the name’s Bond…”, before Nash does his version in a Kermit-like way.
SNL UK was initially confirmed for a run of six episodes, though last week it emerged that it had been extended to eight 75-minute episodes.
The series premiere saw skits that included impressions of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Princess Diana among others, as well as cameos from Graham Norton and Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan and Regé-Jean Page.
Critical reviews skewed positive, The Telegraph calling it a “shockingly competent spin-off” in a four-star review, adding that “predictions that a transatlantic SNL would crash and burn proved wide of the mark”.

The Guardian further suggested that “it could have been a lot, lot worse” as well as “a lot better”, adding: “But it is likely to become so as the team and the audience settle in over the coming weeks and we might see some recurring characters and start to build a rhythm and rapport with the show.”
“What SNL UK’s opening episode does demonstrate is a willingness to push the envelope, to risk bad taste,” wrote The Independent. “Borrowing a beloved American format might feel a bit stale, but there are notes of new ingredients that could offer something fresh.”
However, Deadline was less positive in their verdict, suggesting it was “painful” and “seriously unfunny”.
Following Dornan, next week’s episode will be hosted by Sound of Metal’s Riz Ahmed with Kasabian on board as musical guests.
SNL UK airs live on Sky on Saturdays at 10pm and streaming service NOW in the UK, and will be available on Peacock the following day in the US.
