A rogue video Lily Allen shared on Instagram during her split from David Harbour finally seems to make sense after her new album – and it’s brutal.
The singer released West End Girl last Friday, and one of the songs called Madeline appears to be about the Stranger Things actor’s alleged affair, using a fake name to refer to the other woman in their marriage.
They split after he was accused of having a three year affair with a costume designer. Harbour has never addressed the allegations, but a woman called Natalie Tippett has come forward and identified herself as “Madeline” from the song.
Now, people are uncovering old posts from Allen and Harbour which have taken on sinister new meanings now people know alleged the context to their marriage breakdown.
Back in December last year, Allen posted a really graphic video of a pack of lions eating a zebra on her Instagram Story and everyone thought it was really random.

In the caption, she wrote “That circle of life. brutal” and people were really confused in the comments because it was really out of place on her account and nobody knew the context.
“Uhm, ok but, what was the reason for the post?” one person wrote, while someone else said: “‘Lmaooo wtf this is so random Lily did u get hacked.”

However, the post suddenly makes a lot more sense after the album. She posted the video while on a safari holiday with her daughters Ethel and Marnie shortly after the split, and it seemed like a dig at her ex-husband.
It seems like Lily was hinting that she’s the zebra who was fed to the lions by Harbour, getting trapped in this brutal “circle of life” where she’s treated badly by men.
At the time, nobody knew why the pair had split. It wasn’t until March 2025 that the Daily Mail reported that Harbour had been allegedly having an affair with a costume designer for three years.
