Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing since late January 2026.
Savannah returned to the Today show on March 25, almost two months after her last appearance on the NBC daytime series.
Fans and celebrities rallied around Savannah after her appearance.
Savannah Guthrie finally returned to the Today show—and she’s getting personal about what her life has been like the last few weeks.
In late January, fans were stunned to learn that Savannah’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, had been reported missing from her Arizona home. The case led to an FBI investigation, and Savannah stepped away from TV to be with her family. The ongoing crisis also led her longtime friend (and former co-anchor) Hoda Kotb to take her place on TV.
As Nancy’s disappearance approaches the two-month mark, Savannah came back to Today on March 25 for an emotional interview with Hoda. During the interview, she implored those watching to help her loved ones bring her mother back home.
“Someone needs to do the right thing,” she tearfully stated in a clip posted on Instagram. “We are in agony. It is unbearable. And to think about what she went through … I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, every night. In the darkness, I imagine her terror—it is unthinkable. But those thoughts demand to be thought.”
“I will not hide my face,” she emotionally added. “But she needs to come home now.”
When news of Savannah’s heartbreaking return to Today broke, celebrities reached out to offer her moral support.
“I can’t stop thinking about your Mom. Every day I hope for a break in this case. Every day I think about you and your family. 💔❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Allison Janney commented. “Praying for you and your family,” Octavia Spencer penned. “Please know that you and your family are in our constant prayers we’re thinking of you,” Tamron Hall added.
Fans also rushed to Savannah’s side to share how they’re keeping her in mind.
“Praying for you and your family every single day. 😢🙏,” one person replied. “Please, someone do the right thing! Bring her home!!!” another begged. “Holding your heart and hand Savannah. 🙏🏾🙏🏾,” a different follower acknowledged.
This doesn’t mean Savannah will be returning to Today in a full-time manner. Presently, it seems Savannah will remain off the air while the search for Nancy continues.
Regardless, our hearts are with Savannah and her family through this difficult time.
