Scarlett Johansson‘s prolific career has spanned decades — and out of the numerous roles she’s taken on, she says one job stands out as the worst.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johansson and Eleanor the Great star June Squibb played a game of First/Worst/Best. During the segment, the pair spilled on some of their earliest roles, as well as their least favorite.
While Squibb said she regretted portraying Titania in a rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Johansson went all the way back to the beginning of her career for the role she hated the most.
“I say my worst role was maybe the KitchenAid voiceover I had to do. Yeah,” Johansson recalled during the game.
She went on the explain that her voice sounded quite raspy in the commercial and everyone asked if she had strep throat while she was recording.
“I’m like no…I just sound like this,” Johansson shared.
The KitchenAid voiceover was actually one of Johansson’s first roles when she was just an aspiring actress as a little girl. While Johansson hasn’t shared footage from the role, she did look back on the job during an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast in 2022.
“My first the first thing I ever booked was a KitchenAid voiceover commercial and I never booked another commercial again,” Johansson shared on the podcast.
While she realized commercials weren’t for her, it wasn’t long before Johansson landed her first film role in North, appearing alongside an all-star cast that included Bruce Willis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and John Ritter, among many others.
