Sean Penn Becomes One of Only 8 Actors Ever to Win 3 or More Oscars for Acting

Sean Penn is joining one of the most exclusive clubs in Oscars history.

The 65-year-old actor now has three Academy Awards for acting as of Sunday night (March 15), making him one of only eight performers to even reach that milestone.

Sean won his first Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in Mystic River in 2004. He then took home another Best Actor trophy for Milk in 2009. Most recently, he earned his third acting Oscar with a Best Supporting Actor win for One Battle After Another.

With the victory, Sean joins a very small group of actors who have one three or more Academy Awards for acting.
