For fans of Oklahoma native and entertainment icon Reba McEntire, Friday nights wherever they watch television are about to be their happy place again.

Season 2 of the Golden Globe-nominated actress’ hit sitcom “Happy’s Place” is debuting at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 on NBC.

The official logline for the series’ sophomore season reads: “In Season 2, Happy’s Place reopens its doors, and a long-buried secret comes to light that will test loyalties and shake things up inside the tavern. Through it all, Bobbie must remind everyone that family isn’t what you’re born into, but it’s the people that stand beside you, even in the workplace.”

From the potential romance between the characters played by Reba and her real-life fiance Rex Linn to the anticipated guest stars, here’s what to know about the second season of “Happy’s Place:”

When can fans see new episodes of ‘Happy’s Place’ Season 2?

“Happy’s Place” returns to its time slot at 7 p.m. Fridays on NBC, starting this Friday, Nov. 7. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.

Plus, Reba is doing double duty again this fall on NBC: The Country Music Hall of Famer, who hails from Chockie, is back as a coach on Season 28 of “The Voice,” alongside Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan.

New episodes of “The Voice” air at 8 p.m. Mondays on the network. New episodes stream also the next day on Peacock, along with the rest of NBC’s entertainment lineup.

What’s ‘Happy’s Place’ about?

Along with Reba and Linn,”Happy’s Place” stars Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk.

The multi-camera series stars Reba as Bobbie, who inherits her father’s Tennessee bar, Happy’s Place, upon his death. After running the tavern for many years, her character is less than thrilled when she learns she has a new business partner: Isabella, the much younger half-sister she didn’t know she had until their daddy died. Isabella is played by “Blue Beetle” star Escobedo.

Peterman, who became famously close friends with Reba when they co-starred in the 2001-07 TV series “Reba,” co-stars as Gabby, a longtime bartender at the tavern who wishes she was Bobbie’s sister.

“Yellowstone” actor Black Elk, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and a direct descendant of the Lakota holy man Black Elk, plays a kindly waiter with handyman skills named Takoda. Castelblanco (“Alaska Daily”) plays Steve, the restaurant’s accountant who does his work at the bar and dislikes change.

Linn, Reba’s actor fiance and fellow Oklahoman, plays the taciturn cook, Emmett, on “Happy’s Place.”

Emma Kenney, known for her roles on “The Conners” and “Shameless,” appeared in an episode of the freshman season as Bobbie’s daughter, Gracie, who has been stationed at a military base in Qatar but visited home to meet her newfound aunt.

Behind the cameras, “Happy’s Place” reunites “Reba” executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis, alongside Julie Abbott.

Kevin Abbott also is the new series’ writer, while Reba is listed among the executive producers.

“My crew, my producers and my showrunner, we’ve been working for a long time. Ever since 2006, when ‘Reba’ got canceled, we’ve been trying to find another story,” Reba told The Oklahoman in an April 2024 one-on-one interview behind the scenes Western Heritage Awards in Oklahoma City.

“My showrunner Kevin Abbott, his wife, Julie, was the one that came up with this idea — and we ran with it.”

The Abbotts are credited with creating the series. Matt Berry and Pamela Fryman also are executive producers.

The pilot episode of Reba’s new comedy series, which debuted in October 2024, served up 10 million cross-platform viewers in the first week after it aired on NBC. As part of the show’s renewal announcement in February, NBC revealed that more than 17 million viewers now have seen the “Happy’s Place” pilot.

“Happy’s Place” improved NBC’s ratings in its Friday night time slot by 54% in total viewers, according to Deadline.

What can fans expect from the second season of ‘Happy’s Place?’

To the delight of fans, the “Happy’s Place” team didn’t hesitate to play up the “Reba” connections in the first season of her new series: Steve Howey, who played Reba’s son-in-law Van Montgomery on “Reba,” appeared on the “Happy’s Place” Christmas episode, titled “Ho-Ho-Howey.”

Christopher Rich, who played Reba’s ex-husband Brock Hart on her eponymous series, guest-starred on “Happy’s Place” Season 1, Episode 15, titled “Sisters Ink.” In the episode, Rich played a local tattoo artist named Maverick who can only use his right hand to do his job after suffering a stroke and likes to playfully tease his new clients about it. The Texas native is a real-life stroke survivor and has been outspoken about his recovery journey.

JoAnna García Swisher, who played Reba’s daughter Cheyenne on “Reba,” will make a guest appearance on “Happy’s Place” Season 2. Swisher (“Sweet Magnolias”) will play a woman named Kenzie, who’s described as “a local Knoxville influencer who has been hired to represent Happy’s Place for their upcoming social media marketing campaign and all of it is much to Bobbie’s chagrin,” according to NBC.

The network also has confirmed that three-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Christopher Lloyd (“Taxi,” the “Back to the Future” movies), Oscar-nominated actress Carol Kane (“The Princess Bride”) and Primetime Emmy nominee Cheri Oteri (“Saturday Night Live”) will all guest star on Season 2 of Happy’s Place.

Lloyd will play Clive, a man who lost his phone at the pub and comes back to get it, while Kane will co-star as his wife, Theresa, described as a “free-spirited woman in pursuit of justice, excitement and her husband.” Oteri will play a “no-nonsense health inspector” named Monica in an upcoming episode.

Plus, the “Happy’s Place” Season 1 finale hinted at a budding romance between Reba’s character Bobbie and Linn’s Emmett, which would take advantage of the chemistry of the real-life couple.

Viewers also should look for the fledgling relationship between newfound sisters Bobbie and Isabella to continue to deepen in the upcoming season.

“They will each feed something important in the other, and we’ll get into a lot more of that in Season 2,” Kevin Abbott said in a March interview with TV Insider.
