The news anchor is a staple on the Today show every weekday morning, and he often finds himself in interesting situations at work. But one place he never expected to find himself was on a billboard, as the world found out during the February 27 taping of the hit NBC daytime series.
As Al sat with Craig Melvin, the latter explained that a billboard featuring Al’s name had randomly popped up on a New Jersey highway the night before. The sign read: “Things we all agree on: Al Roker.”
Craig admitted that the Today team was puzzled about where it came from. So, naturally, they asked Al to see if he had any information. And in a surprise twist of events, even he didn’t know how the billboard came to be.
“No information,” Al noted in a clip posted on Instagram. “I have no idea where this came from. I first saw this, our producer, Pete Breen, sent this to me last night. I had no idea.”
Craig asked one more question.
“Are you at all concerned that this is going to be the beginning of some elaborate prank?” Craig remarked.
“Well, I’m just going to have to ride it out and see what happens,” Al answered.
Upon seeing Al’s surprised reaction to having his name featured on a billboard, fans couldn’t help but react.
“Somebody is giving him his flowers 💐🙌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🥰,” one person wrote in the comments. “The truth … we all love Al Roker. What’s not to adore?” another agreed. “His reaction is one of the reasons why people love him so much!#welovealroker,” a different follower added.
