The 2025 Imagen Awards recently celebrated Latino talent in the entertainment industry, honoring performers, directors, and artisans in film and television. This marks the organization’s 40th annual awards show.
Notable winners among the 27 categories included acting legend Danny Trejo for his variety/reality series Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo, and reigning Emmy winner and current nominee Liza Colón-Zayas for The Bear. More recognizable champions were John Leguizamo and Barbie Ferreira for Bob Trevino Likes It, Benjamin Bratt for Millers in Marriage, Gabriel Luna for The Last of Us, and Brian Jordan Alvarez for English Teacher.

The Last of Us, currently nominated for 16 Emmy Awards, won the Best Drama Series prize at the Imagen Awards. There was a tie for Best Comedy Series, with Land of Women and Y Llegaron de Noche both claiming victory.
Bob Trevino Likes It won Best Feature Film, while the directing trophies went to Fede Álvarez (Alien: Romulus) for film, and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Andor) for TV.

Two special honors were awarded to Gustavo Dudamel and Dailyn Rodriguez. Dudamel, an internationally renowned composer, received the Imagen President’s Award for his musical contributions and work with the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA). Rodriguez, a writer-producer-showrunner known for Ugly Betty, Queen of the South, and The Lincoln Lawyer, received the Norman Lear Writer’s Award.
These awards were created in 1985 by the Imagen Foundation to encourage positive portrayals of Latinos in the media. The 40th annual ceremony is scheduled to air Oct. 1. on PBS during Hispanic Heritage Month.
