The longtime feud between Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez has had added yet another chapter to the drama, this one just as puzzling as the rest.
After the 28-year-old Rhode founder seemingly dissed the actress in a recent interview with WSJ Magazine, the 33-year-old has appeared to have responded with five words: “Just leave the girl alone.”
The newest drama between the pair started when Bieber was asked whether she feels competitive now that her Rhode products are being sold at Sephora, where Gomez’s Rare Beauty products are also sold. She replied, “I think there is space for everybody.”
Bieber, who married Justin Bieber, Gomez’s ex, in 2018, didn’t mention her fellow beauty mogul or her brand specifically, but she added, “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.”
The mother-of-one was also asked whether she was nervous that Sephora shoppers might compare her and Gomez’s brands, but before she could respond, her publicist instructed her not to.
The comments from both stars come amid longstanding rumors of a feud between them, which stem from Gomez’s past romance with Bieber’s now-husband, Justin Bieber.
The singer, who recently married Benny Blanco on Sept. 27, dated Justin, 31, when they were younger.
Rumors of a feud between the pair reignited in June, after eagle-eyed Instagram users noticed that Bieber and Gomez were no longer following each other on social media after doing so in 2023.
The rumors have persisted over the years, despite both making public attempts to end them. They even posed for a photo together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ annual gala in 2022.
Bieber has also previously slammed rumors about a “made-up” feud between her and Gomez, calling them not only “vile” and “disgusting,” but also potentially dangerous.
“I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez,” she said while appearing on Bloomberg’s The Circuit in 2023.
“This is not about this pitting between two women — it’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted, and perpetuated narratives that can be really dangerous.”
“I hate it,” Bieber later added, referring to the two women allegedly feuding because of a man.
“I’ve hated it since the beginning, and it goes back to being misunderstood. Time and time again, I say there is no issue, and it’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man.”
