The actress who donated a kidney to Selena Gomez has shut down rumors of a feud between them and congratulated the pop star on her recent wedding to Benny Blanco.
In an interview filmed before the nuptials, which were attended by A-listers including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, 37-year-old Francia Raisa said any reports of her falling out with Selena, 33, were just “rumors.”
Speaking in Spanish while at a bookstore, Francia said she was “very happy” for Selena, who married her husband, record producer Benny, 37, on September 27.
The interview resurfaced amid rumors that Francia wasn’t invited to the wedding – something that hasn’t been confirmed by either Selena or Francia herself.
She said, “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her. And look… she has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her.”
Francia donated a kidney to Selena in 2017 after the star was diagnosed with Lupus and suffered complications from it.
In 2023, Francia said in an interview with USA Today that they hadn’t spoken much in six years and not at all in the last year.
However, the two got back in touch over the summer of 2023 and at a reunion dinner agreed they had “no beef, just salsa.”
“We’ve never really had beef with each other. Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don’t know what happened but we needed that time apart,” she said.
“Then when you come back together, you’re better people,” she added.
She also shared how surprised she was that strangers became so invested in their friendship, and admitted she doesn’t have regrets about doing what she did.
“You know, I gave the girl a kidney so everyone felt a certain way and I was asked for years and years and years, ‘Do you regret it?’ and I was like, ‘No, the relationship has always been there,'” she said.
Then in 2024, Francia told E! News that while she and Selena could go long periods of time without talking to each other, they were still friends.
While it hasn’t been confirmed whether Francia was invited to Selena’s wedding, her social media posts from that weekend hinted she was elsewhere.
