Sexyy Red is asking a judge to remove her from the lawsuit filed by the late producer Tay Keith over unpaid royalties. In a June 6 letter to the court, the rapper said she was “appalled and furthermore hurt” to be named as a defendant, insisting she has no authority over producer payments—that’s the label’s job .
“Tay Keith and I are great working partners and even greater friends,” she wrote. “If the label owes him money, I’m sure they have started the process to get him paid” .
Both camps agree: Tay sued the label, not Sexyy. A rep for the late producer said naming her was “a legal formality” and that they were close to resolving the dispute before his passing . The label’s attorney confirmed they were “in the final stages” of compensating Keith before his death and are now working to pay his estate .
Tay Keith and Sexyy had worked on over a dozen tracks together, including her hit “Pound Town.” He died on June 18 at 29. .
