Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew and the Duke of York, gave up his titles earlier this year following a series of scandals.

The late Queen’s second son withdrew from public duties in 2020 due to backlash over his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

His honorary military affiliations and Royal charitable patronages were stripped by the late Queen in January 2022. Following additional controversies, Buckingham Palace declared he would no longer use his Duke of York title publicly and later announced that the King had decided to remove all remaining Royal titles and styles from his younger brother.

As of October 2025, he is referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Despite not having a public income for several years, Celebrity Net Worth estimates his worth at £3.7m.

The last disclosed figure for public money received by Andrew was £249,000 annually in 2010. Subsequently, the Queen made direct payments to him from her private wealth while he performed Royal duties.

ITV reports that the King cut Andrew’s £1 million annual royal allowance last year, leaving him with only a £20,000 naval pension as declared income.

A 2023 Guardian investigation found that Andrew had made almost £13m through royal work prior to 2019.

The former prince has resided at the Royal Lodge for over two decades, with the Times reporting in 2024 that he had convinced Palace authorities he has enough legitimate funds to cover his own expenses. However, he will soon be required to vacate.

A Royal expert suggests he will expect to retain staff to assist him in his new residence. Andrew is expected to move to the Sandringham estate in the new year. The former Royal is “living in fear and angry”, says ex-BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond, as Andrew was seen for the first time since losing his Royal titles on November 17.

He was spotted horse-riding around the Windsor estate, having been absent from public view for several weeks.
