Reese Witherspoon praised her longtime friend Jennifer Aniston’s positive relationships with her exes.
During the Monday, Nov. 3, episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, co-host Monica Padman noted that they recently had Aniston, 56, on as a guest, and had asked her how she and Witherspoon, who are longtime friends, were “different.” Padman, 38, then asked Witherspoon the same question.
“We’ve known each other so long and we’re very different people,” Witherspoon, 49, began.
Shepard, 50, then began to sing, “But opposites attract, and it’s a natural thing.”
“I’ve cried in one of our interviews because I just think people are so unfair sometimes. They think they know her and make assumptions. She’s not who … people think she is, like holding on to old things. She’s not holding on to old things,” Witherspoon said of her The Morning Show costar.
“She’s not pining for Brad Pitt,” Shepard said with a laugh.
“No, she’s doing great,” Padman chimed in.
“By the way, at her 50th birthday, one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is. People from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there. She just is a high spiritual integrity person,” Witherspoon recalled.

“She’s not a burner of bridges,” Shepard added, which Witherspoon acknowledged was correct.
Aniston was previously married to Pitt, 61, from 2000 to 2005 after two years of dating. Following their divorce, she was married to Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018. Aniston recently announced she is in a relationship with hypnotherapist and life coach Jim Curtis.
Earlier in the conversation, Witherspoon described her longtime friend’s personality. “She’s really warm and welcoming. She’s like a big host,” adding that Aniston, 56, is “very warm and friendly.”
“I think I’m more like nerdy,” the Big Little Lies star said.
“She said you’re Tracy Flick like,” Shepard cut in, in reference to Witherspoon’s role in the 1999 film Election, to which she laughed.

“I’m a straight-A student. I am. And if there’s a challenge, I’ll take it. But hopefully I’m not so rigid. I used to be really rigid. I think my edge is softened. Life does that to you,” Witherspoon said.
“I will say I’ve known Jen 25 or 26 years. She’s always been really lovely and nurturing and warm and friendly and kind, and has been through her own stuff, you know, and also has reason to be a little guarded,” Witherspoon said of Aniston.
