SHREVEPORT, La. — The Shreveport City Council approved a resolution Monday establishing the Film and Entertainment Gateway Economic Development District to fund local construction and development projects.
The resolution authorizes a 2% sales tax and a 2% hotel occupancy tax within the designated district. Revenue will be used to support infrastructure and economic growth tied to the entertainment industry.
A public hearing on the tax plan is scheduled for April 13 at 2 p.m. If the proposal gains final approval following the hearing, the new taxes are expected to take effect July 1.
