The City Shreveport congratulated Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and G-Unit Film & Television’s Louisiana subsidiary Tuesday on the announcement of a major entertainment-focused redevelopment investment in partnership with the State of Louisiana and Louisiana Economic Development.
According to the State, the multi-phase project is supported by state economic development funding and is expected to bring significant private investment into downtown Shreveport, including the redevelopment of existing properties and the creation of new entertainment, production, and event spaces.
A news release from Mayor Tom Arceneaux’s office stated that investment includes an estimated $78 million investment in Millennium Studios and a $24 million investment in Stageworks, both leased to G-Unit by the City. These investments will enhance the value of the City facilities.
“The City of Shreveport welcomes the infusion of $50 million by the State of Louisiana and another $74 million by G-Unit in downtown Shreveport,” Arceneaux stated. “This will enhance development and growth in downtown, with no additional City funds.”
City leadership supports investments that strengthen downtown Shreveport, activate underutilized properties, and contribute to long-term economic growth and job creation, according to the news release. Projects of this scale complement the City’s ongoing focus on infrastructure, public services, and neighborhood improvements across Shreveport.
The news releases stated the City looked forward to the positive impact this state-supported investment will bring to the community and to continued collaboration with public and private partners committed to Shreveport’s future.
