SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Multi-awarded musician and actress Andra Day will join multi-Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-winning singer, songwriter and composer Jon Batiste on stage at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on Friday night.
Day, who was born in Washington state but grew up in San Diego, made her acting debut portraying American jazz and swing singer Billie Holiday in the film, “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.”

Her role in the film earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Day’s music career took her through several avenues in the entertainment industry, including the BET Awards, the Special Olympics, the Super Bowl and television shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Good Morning America and others.
Meanwhile, Batiste is a successful musician in his own right, with seven Grammys and an Oscar for Best Original Score for the 2020 Disney-Pixar film, “Soul.” He was also nominated for Best Original Song for “It Never Went Away” from the documentary film, “American Symphony.”
Tickets for the show at The Rady Shell start at $85 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
