Singer Sia’s Estranged Husband’s Allegations Slammed As ‘Old News’ In Custody Battle

The judge was not impressed by Singer Sia‘s estranged husband’s custody filing.

The iconic songstress is still enjoying full primary custody of her and Daniel Bernard‘s child as the court tossed out his request to change the arrangement in his favor.

Singer Sia and her estranged husband have been stuck in their contentious court battle for about seven months now, since she filed for divorce from the medical practitioner.

Singer Sia’s Ex-Husband Meets A Dead End In His Custody Mission

Sia was the big winner in her ongoing divorce process from her ex, whose emergency petition to have complete custody of their child was immediately dismissed by a judge.

The judge reportedly stated that a portion of the facts presented by Bernard was a repetition of information from his initial filing in August. 

The judge also noted that the court was fully aware of these reasons when the former couple agreed to a temporary physical custody agreement, which made Sia the primary caregiver of their child while Bernard received monitored visits.

Bernard reportedly demanded that the court issue an emergency order granting him sole custody of their child, Somersault Wonder Bernard. Sia’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, indicated that there was no additional information that would justify a reduction of the custody order.

She added that Bernard was placed on monitored visitation at the time they agreed, as he was under investigation by the LAPD on child porn. As confirmed by TMZ, no charges or arrest have been pursued in connection with that investigation.

The custody battle between Sia and Bernard took a dramatic turn when accusations began flying. As shared by The Blast, Bernard described the singer as a grave and imminent threat against their child and urged the court to grant him full custody.

He tagged the singer an incompetent and irresponsible parent who struggles with substance abuse and addiction, which makes her unable to take care of their child.

Bernard emphasized that he is the only parent who can be considered safe and reliable to their child, noting, “I am a doctor, young, healthy, and have no criminal history or drug or alcohol addiction issues.”

Sia, however, claimed that he is already limited to monitored visits due to the investigation of child pornography, adding that their child was and still is safe in her custody since the time they were separated.

Aside from the custody request, Bernard also sought a monthly spousal support payment from the GRAMMY winner, totaling $250,856. The doctor did not stop there; he also requested an additional $300,000 to cover his legal expenses and another $200,000 for forensic accounting fees and costs.

While Sia and the oncologist were married, they reportedly lived a very lavish life and typically splurged an average of $500,000 per month. Bernard explained that, while he was fully employed when they first met, he has since been out of a job and has had no income since April.

He attributed this lack of funding to Sia’s decision to withdraw support for their joint venture, Modern Medicine. Sia and Bernard tied the knot in 2023 in a private ceremony held at Dolce & Gabbana’s home in Portofino, Italy.

Somersault is not Sia’s only child; she welcomed two sons home in 2019 through adoption, three years after separating from her ex-husband and filmmaker Erik Anders Lang. 

As noted by PEOPLE, the singer was honest about her struggles with infertility during her first marriage despite several series of IVF. Although they had a breakthrough with a few embryos, they were unable to use them due to their divorce. 

Sia had also craved being a parent for as long as she could remember, so when the push to explore the foster care system came in 2019, she embraced the process and became a parent to not one, but two 18-year-old boys.

“I wanted to spend a lot of time with them to help reverse the conditioning they grew up with and guide them toward a meaningful life that they don’t ever have to be ashamed about,” the performer explained in 2020.

In the relationship department, Sia has also been involved in a pretty interesting entanglement, which has raised eyebrows. Back in July, The Blast shared that the singer was spotted bonding on a date with the reality TV star at a restaurant in Los Angeles.

The pair reportedly looked super swoon-worthy together as they held hands and exchanged smiles while exiting the restaurant.

Jowsey has had a notable history of relationships with women in Hollywood, including a recent one with Lucy Hale, Madeline Argy in 2024, Francesca Farago from 2020 to 2021, and Rylee Arnold.

Fans immediately disapproved of the romance, claiming that Jowsey was a social climber who would leave her with a crushing heartbreak. Another tagged the pairing as a desperate attempt at publicity from both of them.
