Snoop Dogg has shared his thoughts about LGBTQ+ representation in children’s movies. The rapper candidly spoke at length about his concerns regarding the subject during a recent podcast appearance, sparking debate on social media.

What did Snoop Dogg say about LGBTQ+ representation in children’s movies?

In a recent appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, Snoop Dogg shared his concerns about LGBTQ+ representation in movies geared towards a younger audience. “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” the rapper said.

Snoop Dogg further went on to reveal that he took his grandson to watch Angus MacLane’s Lightyear and was shocked to see the main character’s parents being queer. He was likely referring to Alisha and her wife, Kiko, who has a son, Avery Hawthorne.

Explaining what concerned him, he said, “They just said, she and she had a baby — they’re both women. How does she have a baby? [the experience] f—– me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s— that I don’t have an answer for.” He further added, “It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this?”

Snoop Dogg further explained his concerns regarding LGBTQ+ representation in children’s movies, saying, “These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”

Lightyear faced a ban in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, and many more because of a scene showing a same-sex couple kissing. Producer Galyn Susman told AFP that they knew that the ban could happen.

She said, “We were warned that this would be a likely outcome. But we weren’t going to change the film we wanted to make just because of some countries with — for lack of a better term — backward beliefs” (via Euro News).
