A viral TikTok rant has sparked a generational internet debate about rising pop crooner Sombr’s stage presence and fanbase – and the singer has joined the conversation.

“I thought I was chronically online, but it’s just come to my attention that there’s a TikTok drama going around because a 25-year-old attended my concert and was basically complaining that there were too many tweens there, I was making too many brain rot jokes, and she just thought it was a cringe concert,” the singer, who is scheduled to perform at San Francisco’s Rickshaw Stop on Monday, Oct. 27, said in a video shared to TikTok on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The musician’s remarks were in response to a nearly nine-minute long viral rant posted to the social media platform by Megan Tomasic, who attended his Oct. 13 show in Washington, D.C. and described it as “one of the worst experiences of my life.”

“I’m going to explain to you why, if you’re over the age of 16, you should not spend your money on a Sombr concert,” Tomasic said in her video before proceeding to complain about the “12 to 12” singer’s fanbase of tweens and his “super vulgar” remarks mid-show.

“It just doesn’t seem like he knows how to entertain. He’s maybe too young. Maybe he has to grow into it. I don’t know,” she continued. “Dancing was terrible, singing was terrible.”

Sombr: 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. Tickets start at $114. Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, 99 Grove St., S.F. 510-548-3010. ticketmaster.com

The video has made its rounds on social media since it was shared on Oct. 15, with the original clip amassing nearly 800,000 likes on TikTok.

Fresh on the music scene, Sombr released his debut album, “I Barely Know Her,” in August following the social media success of his songs “back to friends” and “undressed” earlier this year.

He even received the stamp of approval from Taylor Swift, who shouted him out as one of her favorite artists during a recent talk show appearance, and is scheduled to make his the musical guest debut on “Saturday Night Live” on Nov. 8.

But Tomasic doesn’t understand the hype. She referred to her experience at Sombr’s concert as “a nightmare.”

She also called the singer “slender man” because of his lanky build, which Sombr noted has “kind of started a massive body shaming hate train directed towards me on a lot of videos of me on the internet right now.”

“I totally respect people having opinions, but I am a 20-year-old artist. Freshly 20. And if you’re 25 years old and you’re going to come to my concert and not expect people younger than you to be there, when I, the artist, am five years younger than you, it’s just a skill issue,” Sombr went on. “Live a little, enjoy life.

“You guys need to find problematic people to hate on, because I am just existing.”
