Sony is officially developing a new Labubu movie (via The Hollywood Reporter), which means the wildly popular Chinese collectible doll brand will now have a dedicated franchise. Some might be excited by this news, while others would recall what Bryan Cranston’s character warned us about in The Studio.
Labubu is the lead plush monster created by Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong-born artist. In the past two years, it became a global phenomenon, thanks to Pop Mart’s retail strategy. Now it’s headed straight to Hollywood to become an IP machine, the same one that The Studio mocked mercilessly through Cranston’s character, Griffin Mill.
