The first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s new extraterrestrial thriller, “Disclosure Day,” has been released, giving audiences their first look at scenes filmed in the Catskills and Westchester County.

The film features a high-profile cast that includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson and Wyatt Russell. While the story reaches far beyond Earth, parts of it were grounded firmly in the Hudson Valley.

In the trailer, Blunt stars as a Kansas City television meteorologist whose on-air broadcast takes a strange turn. Viewers see unsettling behavior during a live studio segment intercut with hints of unexplained animal activity, eerie abandoned locations and secretive government actions. O’Connor appears as a whistleblower whose revelations suggest a long-hidden truth is about to surface.

In the spring of last year, Spielberg and Blunt were spotted filming scenes across New York and neighboring New Jersey, including locations in Westchester County and the Catskills. Production crews also put out a casting call in April seeking Greene County residents and their vehicles to appear as hotel guests, diner patrons and drivers — turning quiet Hudson Valley mountain towns into temporary movie sets.

Films which question our solo existence in the universe are not alien to the award-winning director. Previous films include “Close Enounters of the Third Kind,” “E.T.” and “War of the Worlds.”

“Disclosure Day” is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 12, 2026.
