Spotify has initiated testing on a redesign of the genre filters found within some of its personalized playlists. The primary modification replaces traditional, static genre names with more descriptive phrases, transitioning the customization options into actionable prompts for the user.
Instead of displaying straightforward musical styles such as Indie, Hyperpop, or Dance, selected users are now seeing interactive prompts. The new interface features phrases such as “Make it more dance,” “Deep dive into indie,” and “Lean into hyperpop.”
This experimental feature is currently limited to a small test group of accounts. At present, the interface update has been observed primarily within the personalized Discover Weekly playlist, though initial rollouts have also begun appearing on the Release Radar playlist.

These new Release Radar filters have already entered general distribution, rolling out globally across both the mobile application and desktop client platforms.
