St Patrick’s Day festivities will turn Northern Ireland green as we celebrate Irish culture and heritage on St Patrick’s Day this month.

From musical performances to parades to cultural events, there’s a plethora of enjoyable activities leading up to the main event for those looking to immerse themselves in the spirit of the holiday.

With an abundance of events for all ages throughout Northern Ireland for St Patrick’s Day this March, there’s plenty on offer for those eager to don their green and join in the celebrations, reports Belfast Live.

Here are some of the events taking place across Northern Ireland for St Patrick’s Day 2026:

Belfast

Féile Trad Trail – March 10-17

Féile an Phobail will also be presenting top-tier Irish traditional music and workshops at various venues throughout the city from March 10-17.

The well-loved Féile Trad Trail will encompass over 100 sessions, showcasing some of Ireland’s premier traditional musicians.

The Trad Trail is also a component of the Feile an Earraigh (Traditional Spring Festival).

St Patrick’s Music Festival – March 13-17

As a UNESCO City of Music, the St Patrick’s Music Festival plays a crucial role in our St Patrick’s Day festivities.

At the core of this program is a diverse celebration that crosses cultural and traditional boundaries in honor of St Patrick.

Delight in a range of indoor and outdoor traditional arts events, from headline concerts and laid-back workshops to the invigorating sound of pipe bands, the fun and elegance of set and céilí dancing, contemplative pilgrimages, and the free St Patrick’s Day Festival Village at Cathedral Quarter.

St Patrick’s Celebrations at St George’s Market – March 14-15

St George’s Market is joining the festivities this year for our St Patrick’s Celebrations.

Experience live traditional music all weekend long, exclusive trader deals and plenty of family entertainment.

Be sure to catch special traditional Irish music showcases from members of Ards Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (our partners for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026) running from 11.30am to 1pm both days.

St Patrick’s Day Parade – March 17

A spectacular showcase of costume, music, dance and theatrical displays will transform the streets of Belfast this St Patrick’s Day.

Our yearly parade will wind its way through the city center on Tuesday, 17 March.

Featuring vibrant live performances and an energetic soundtrack, this year’s parade will incorporate fresh elements to honor the legends of St Patrick.

Area dance groups, schools, community organizations and musicians will also participate in the spectacle.

This is a diverse multicultural, cross-community celebration and everyone is welcome.

Seachtain na Gaeilge – March 1-17

The largest Irish language festival in Ireland and the world.

Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival and one of the greatest celebrations of the language and culture that occurs each year in Ireland and in many other countries.

A massive family fun day, Spraoi Cois Lao, returns on Saturday 7 March in Custom House Square as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Join us for a day filled with music, craic, sports, and fun in Belfast City Centre.

We’ll have workshops, activities, games, and much more as we celebrate the Irish language in the city. There’s something for everyone.

Spar Craic 10k – March 17

This St Patrick’s Day, over five thousand runners will once again hit the streets of Belfast for the SPAR Craic 10k.

Be part of a celebration of sport, community, and culture at the heart of the city’s festivities.

Starting at Belfast City Hall and ending in the lively atmosphere of Ormeau Park, the SPAR Craic 10k has grown since 2015 into a firm favorite. And whilst the event is known for its sea of green t-shirts, wigs, and tutus, the organizers are dedicated to making the SPAR Craic 10k Ireland’s greenest urban run.

St Patrick’s Day Festival Village – March 17

Enjoy a free afternoon of music, dance, and food at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Festival Village.

The Ultimate St Patrick’s Day Warm-Up: Pure Blarney Live at The Black Box – March 16

Ahead of St Patrick’s Day in Belfast, Pure Blarney is setting the tone with a high-energy live show at The Black Box in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter on Monday, March 16 – a festival-charged warm-up guaranteed to kick off celebrations in style.

Family St Patrick’s Day celebrations at Antrim Castle Gardens – March 14

Mark St Patrick’s Day at Antrim Castle Gardens. Gather the entire family for a day of enjoyment in the beautiful gardens.

Experience live performances, Irish and Ulster-Scots dancing and numerous family-oriented activities as the gardens burst with the essence of St Patrick’s Day.

A complimentary day of entertainment suitable for all ages.

Exhibition of Irish Dancing

This display of historical Irish Dancing attire has been assembled in honor of St Patrick’s Day. The assortment of vintage Irish Dancing outfits have been made accessible for public viewing at no charge.

The garments, some dating back to the 1940s, were contributed over time by dance academies and solo performers from throughout Northern Ireland.

Happy St Patrick’s Day – Mr Hullabaloo – March 14

Come along with Mr Hullabaloo and companions at rainbow’s end for stories of leprechauns, fairies and entertaining mischief at the Courtyard Theatre!

Armagh

St Patrick’s Festival Live Music Trail – March 13-17

The Home of St. Patrick’s Festival is delighted to showcase an exciting “Live Irish Music Trail” showcasing 20 performers at 12 locations.

Stop by and experience melodies from an array of local artists who will create a distinctive vibe throughout the City. Entry to all performances is complimentary.

The Trail runs from March 13-17.

St Patrick’s Day Parade – March 17

St Patrick’s Day parade in Armagh honors our patron saint with a magnificent showcase of color, music and fun for everyone.

The City’s fantastic locally-produced parade travels through the city center along a route beginning at the Christian Brothers’ School.

It continues through the City onto Cathedral Road, passing the Shambles Market before concluding at the Cathedral Road Recreation Centre grounds. Starting time is 2pm.

Leprechaun Fun Run – March 14

Warm up amid the splendor of the Palace Demesne as part of St Patrick’s Festival 2026 and take part in the weekly 5KM timed run.

Put on your running shoes and meet us at the Palace Demesne to kick off your St Patrick’s celebrations. Green tutus, shamrock singlets and even emerald-dyed hair will be most welcome, channel your inner leprechaun!

We encourage children to participate (however anyone under the age of 11, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian).

Vigil Walk – March 17

This event has become an annual tradition in the city’s Home of St Patrick’s Festival. The Vigil Walk by torchlight is led by the Archbishops of the city’s two St.Patrick’s Cathedrals, Archbishop Eamon Martin and Archbishop John McDowell.

Join them in prayer and conversation as the Vigil starts from the Church of Ireland Cathedral and moves to the Roman Catholic Cathedral, a symbolic reflection of St Patrick’s own journey to unite through Christianity.

Ards and North Down

St Patrick’s Day at Ulster Folk Museum – March 17

Celebrate St Patrick’s Day at Ulster Folk Museum with festivities rooted in history, folklore and tradition.

Join us on Tuesday, March 17, for a family day filled with music, storytelling and hands-on activities that bring Ireland’s past to life. There’ll be traditional music performances and Irish dancing displays, plus folklore tales of legends and lore.

Try Irish language taster sessions, sample colcannon and get hands-on with our family craft station.

Watch ploughing and horseshoeing demonstrations in the rural area, have a go at some traditional loy digging and bring a shamrock home with you.

St Patrick’s Night Celebration Bangor – March 12

Hosted by Bangor Drama Club – Mark St Patrick’s Night with an evening filled with music, dance, theater, and entertainment!

Experience performances from our featured guests The McClean Family and Bangor School of Irish Dancing.

All funds raised support The Alzheimer’s Society.

Mid and East Antrim

St Patrick’s Day at Slemish – March 17

Mark St Patrick’s Day in magnificent fashion on Tuesday 17 March with an unforgettable climb up Slemish-the historic mountain where Ireland’s patron saint once herded sheep.

This renowned annual event welcomes you to tackle the 1.5 kilometer round trip to the peak and witness the stunning sweeping vistas. The trek lasts roughly one hour, so ensure you dress in warm, weatherproof clothing and durable footwear (boots advised-no soft trainers!).

Mid Ulster

St Patrick’s Celebration Concert – March 6

Join us at the Burnavon Theatre Cookstown on March 6, 2026, for this year’s St Patrick’s Celebration Concert.

This year’s St Patrick’s Concert is set for Friday, March 6, and it’s a celebration of talent from within our district. Enjoy performances from Paiseanta Trad as well as music from Ryan Mc Garrity, Deirbhile Canavan, and Shayne Ferrity!

We’ll also have performances (both song and dance) from Primary 6 and 7 pupils from Naíscoil and Gaelscoil Eoghain in Cookstown, along with students from the Traditional Music in Schools Programme, supported through Mid Ulster District Council Arts Programme.

The event will be hosted by Malachi Cush.

St Patrick’s Day celebrations on Hill of The O’Neill – March 17

Join us on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for our annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations on Hill of The O’Neill from 1:30pm – 4:30pm. We’ll have live music, face painting, arts and crafts with Shauna McCann and Lina from A Misty Kind of Blue.

Plus, there will be several vendors on site. This is a FREE event and no booking is required.

Headlining this year’s concert is the Irish Trad and Folk band, The Muddlers Club. They’re well-known on the traditional circuit, playing festivals, concerts, gigs, and weddings across the country and beyond!

We’re thrilled to welcome The Muddlers Club back to Hill of The O’Neill following an epic St Patrick’s Day celebration in 2025!

There will be an energetic mix of traditional Irish tunes and songs performed in their lively style – perfect for the occasion!

Members of Brantry Comhaltas will also provide live traditional Irish music, entertaining crowds on Hill of The O’Neill. A Quiet Space will be accessible on the second floor of Ranfurly House throughout the day.

Fermanagh and Omagh

St Patrick’s Day Carnival Parade Omagh – March 17

The St Patrick’s Day Carnival Parade, developed through a series of community workshops backed by the Arts Council and the “Housing for All” Shared Housing Programme, will deliver color, creativity and celebration to Omagh.

Thousands are anticipated to line the streets as the parade makes its way from: South West College, Drumragh Avenue, Town Center, Courthouse, John’s Street, Church Street, George St, High Street, Bridge Street, returning to South West College.

The parade will highlight the creativity of local groups, schools and organizations, celebrating community, culture and the County Town’s dynamic spirit.

St Patrick’s Eve Fermanagh – March 16

Festivities kick off at Enniskillen Castle with an evening of free, family-friendly entertainment.

Last year’s St Patrick’s Eve celebrations attracted over 5,000 visitors, and this year’s expanded programme is designed to deliver an even more unforgettable experience, encouraging visitors to stay overnight before the main celebrations.

St Patrick’s Day Fermanagh – March 17

The festivities carry on at Enniskillen Castle and the Broadmeadow with an energetic afternoon featuring:.

A diverse selection of additional food vendors on location.

Traditional St Patrick’s Parade Fermanagh – March 17

The beloved parade will journey from Castle back to Castle, weaving through Enniskillen’s town center and crossing its famous bridges – honoring the distinctive geography of the island town.

Attendees are urged to claim viewing positions early and enjoy.

Pre-parade performances from the wonderful folkabilly band The Hand Me Downs with special surprise appearances along the parade route.

Audience numbers of up to 30,000 are anticipated throughout the day.

Omagh Music and Mythology – March 17

The Streets of Omagh will spring to life at this year’s St Patrick’s Weekend with a dynamic celebration of music, mythology, dance and carnival parade on 17 March 2026.

Organized by Urban Events NI under the theme Music and Mythology, this year’s schedule combines an exciting mix of traditional musicians, dancers, performers and local groups to deliver an unforgettable festival experience.

Entertainment Programme from 1pm – 3pm: Music Filling the Streets

Festival attendees can anticipate a spirited program across Omagh town center, with Tyrone Trad Musicians spearheading a powerful Super Session showcasing some of the county’s premier traditional talent. Expect dynamic performances resonating through the streets with the unmistakable sound of Irish traditional music.

St Patrick’s Day at Ulster American Folk Park – March 17

Mark a traditional St Patrick’s Day celebration at the Ulster American Folk Park (Omagh) on Tuesday, March 17.

Experience a day steeped in Irish heritage and festivity as you discover the story behind the shamrock, set to the melodies of traditional Irish music from both Ulster and America. Take in Irish dance displays and witness traditional craft demonstrations such as basket weaving throughout the day.

Visit the Mellon House where the table will be laden with classic dishes like colcannon and apple tart, sample portions of fruit brack and participate in the ‘Shamrock Selfie Trail. ‘.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig is a community-run festival celebrating St Patrick’s Day in the picturesque coastal town of Ballycastle, County Antrim.

Join Ballycastle residents for St. Patrick’s Day in this tribute to the patron saint, featuring abundant food and beverages, family-friendly activities, a St Patrick’s Day parade and much more!

Festival Schedule: 11:30 AM Welcome to the Market at the seafront – a varied collection of artisans, craftspeople, food vendors, and independent merchants. 12:30 PM – Families, organizations, and school groups assemble at Dalriada Lower Car Park in preparation for the parade.

St Patrick’s Day Parade in Downpatrick – March 17

St Patrick’s Day parades will be at the heart of festivities in Downpatrick and Newry City on St Patrick’s Day.

Headed by St Patrick himself, the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Downpatrick on Tuesday 17 March 2026 will provide a spectacle for audiences as whirling performers, neighborhood floats and dressed-up figures entertain the spectators.

In Downpatrick, the St Patrick’s Day Parade begins at Downshire Estate, Ardglass Road at 1.30pm and proceeds along the primary route through town, concluding at Rathkeltair Car Park, Lower Market Street. Celebrations throughout Downpatrick will take place from 12noon to 4pm.

St Patrick’s Day Parade in Newry City – March 17

St Patrick’s Day Parades will take center stage in celebrations across Newry City and Downpatrick on St Patrick’s Day. Headed by Saint Patrick himself, the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Newry City on Tuesday 17 March 2026 will deliver a spectacular experience as twirling dancers, community floats and costumed performers delight spectators.

In Newry City, the St Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off from Albert Basin at 1pm and will travel along Merchants Quay, Sugar Island, concluding at The Mall.

St Patrick’s Festivities will take place in Newry City from 12noon to 4pm on St Patrick’s Day. There are numerous St Patrick’s festivities scheduled for Newry City including the St Patrick’s Day Parade, live music, dance, family friendly entertainment zone, ceili, climbing wall and family activities at Newry and Mourne Museum.

Lisburn and Castlereagh

St Patrick’s Weekend at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens – March 15

Come to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens for an exciting family day out, featuring stories, music and celebration, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day!

Experience the enchantment of traditional Irish storytelling with acclaimed storyteller Eamonn Keenan, joined by the mesmerizing music of Aodan MacSeafriadh.

Mark St. Patrick’s weekend with the Cedar Rapids Metro Marching Band, returning to Ireland for the third time.

Coming from Iowa, this award-winning ensemble of students will stop at Hillsborough as part of their band away day. Join us in the Castle forecourt (behind the courthouse) for their final session before they march off to the St Patrick’s Day parade.

The band will deliver a special 10-minute performance on March 15 at 11:00 – make sure to extend them a hearty Irish welcome.

St Patrick’s Day Tea Dance Lisburn – March 17

Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with flair at our Tea Dance in Market Square, Lisburn. Revel in live music from local favorite Housty, complemented by Irish and Highland dancing.

It’s the ideal way to spend the afternoon with fantastic music, dancing, and a touch of craic.

Dancing kicks off from 1.00pm to 2.00pm, followed by our Tea Dance from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
