Roseanne Barr has a lot to say about ABC’s sudden suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
ABC announced Wednesday that it would pull the late-night show off the air indefinitely after comments the host made about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk faced criticism from the head of the Federal Communications Commission and prompted several network-affiliated stations to say they would not broadcast the show.
During his Monday night monologue, Jimmy Kimmel criticized President Donald Trump’s MAGA base over its reaction to the killing of the Turning Point USA co-founder, who was fatally shot last week while speaking during an event at Utah Valley University. He also suggested that the suspect in Kirk’s killing — 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah — might have been pro-Trump or Republican.
“The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during his remarks.
Barr, who starred in the sitcom “Roseanne,” took to X to share her thoughts on the sudden suspension. ABC had canceled her show in 2018 after she put out a racist tweet about a former Obama aide, which sparked intense backlash.
“Yeah imagine an administration putting pressure on a television channel to fire a comedian they didn’t like,” Barr posted late Wednesday.
Barr was responding to a post from political commentator David Frum, who wrote: “Trying to imagine the reaction if the Biden administration had demanded that Fox fire Greg Gutfeld because he wasn’t sufficiently sad about the assault on Paul Pelosi.”
Social media users had mixed reactions to her take, with many arguing that Trump was president at the time of her show’s cancellation.

Catturd, a popular MAGA account, responded with laughing emojis.
“You dumba– you got fired in 2018 under Trump,” liberal influencer Harry Sisson posted.
The suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” came after Brendan Carr, whom Trump had nominated in November as FCC chair, told conservative podcast host Benny Johnson earlier Wednesday that there was a “strong case” for action over Kimmel’s comments, saying on his show: “This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.”
Trump celebrated the news in a post on his Truth Social platform Wednesday night.
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” he said, referring to CBS’s Stephen Colbert of “The Late Show,” whose show is set to end in May 2026.
He also urged NBC to ax “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon and “Late Night” host Seth Meyers from the network.
