The wattage on the new “Star Search” just got a whole lot brighter.
Netflix unveiled the celebrity judges’ panel for its upcoming reboot of the iconic talent competition in a press release Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Country music powerhouse Jelly Roll, model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen, and Golden Globe-nominated actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will help guide the next generation of aspiring superstars as they compete for viewers’ votes across categories including music, dance, comedy and magic.
Jelly Roll, Teigen and Gellar will be joined by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, who is slated to host the reality-competition series.
“What kind of judge am I going to be? I have no idea,” Teigen wrote on Instagram. “I have no plan. All I know is I cannot wait to see the talent this brings and to spend my Tuesdays and Wednesdays with @sarahmgellar, @jellyroll615 and @anthonyanderson and YOU!”
Created by Al Masini, the original “Star Search,” hosted by Ed McMahon, ran from 1983-1995 and helped launch the entertainment careers of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Aaliyah, Adam Sandler and Dave Chappelle.
A brief revival of the series, hosted by comedian and talk-show host Arsenio Hall, ran from 2003-2004 on CBS.
