Celebrities such as Chris Packham, Denise Van Outen, Jonny Vaughn and actor Michael Sheen were left enamoured by the beautiful tale filmed in Shetland.
The documentary tells the story of the extraordinary bond between a wild otter and her human rescuer.
When a half-starved otter washes up on his jetty in the West Mainland, Billy Mail, his wife Susan, and their devoted sheepdog Jade find themselves with a unique new family member.
They know the otter, now named Molly, must be desperate to approach them, and Billy begins feeding her, aiming to bring her back to full health so she can go it alone.
On Friday, Channel 4 aired the celebrity special of its popular programme, which showed some of the guests on the show in tears over the powerful story.
“This is going to be too much,” said Welsh actor Sheen.
Watching along with her former Big Breakfast colleague, Jonny Vaughn, Van Outen described the documentary like the movie Marley and Me.
“You’re going to start crying,” Vaughn said.
As the celebrities watched the show, all of them commented on the “cute” story.
Wildlife presenter Packham said he loved otters.
Billy and Molly: An otter love story had Packham’s hairs “standing on end”, he said.
Former Top of the Pops presenter Fearne Cotton also loved the story of Billy and Molly.
When she saw that Billy had created a ball pool for the lonely otter, she was unable to hold back her emotions.
“Sorry, that is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life,” Cotton said.
