EXCLUSIVE: Linden Entertainment has signed Emmy-winning director, writer, and producer Stephanie Laing for management.
Laing is coming off the theatrical release of her new film, Tow, a comedy-drama starring Rose Byrne, Dominic Sessa, Ariana DeBose, Octavia Spencer, and Simon Rex, based on the true story of Amanda Ogle (Byrne), an unhoused Seattle woman who fought her way out of tow-company hell to reclaim her life and the car that held it all together after receiving a tow bill for $21,634, in a herculean, 369-day-long effort.
The film premiered at last year’s Tribeca Festival and is in theaters now with Vertical and Roadside Attractions.
Most recently in television, Laing exec produced and directed six episodes of Apple’s Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2, premiering April 3, after directing several Season 1 episodes. Recently, for Apple, she’s also directed on Stick Season 2, the Emmy-nominated Palm Royale starring Kristen Wiig, and Physical, starring her Tow lead Byrne, where she was also an EP. Additionally, she directed on HBO’s Veep, winning her Emmys both for her work there and on Tracey Ullman’s HBO sketch series Tracey Takes On…
Previously in film, Laing directed, co-wrote and produced Family Squares starring Henry Winkler, Judy Greer, June Squibb, Casey Wilson, and Margo Martindale — a dramedy narrated by the late Rob Reiner, which marked her feature writing debut. Also previously, she directed Netflix’s Irreplaceable You starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kate McKinnon, and Christopher Walken. She continues to be repped by CAA and Myman Greenspan.
Founded in 2020 by Nicole King and Stacy O’Neil, who lead the company alongside Partner JoAnne Colonna and CEO of Production Riva Marker, Linden Entertainment’s roster also includes Vin Diesel, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, Amy Adams, Eiza Gonzalez, Vanessa Kirby, Rachel Weisz, Brendan Fraser, and Forest Whitaker, among others. Their production arm, Linden Productions, has Aleshea Harris’ Is God Is coming up for release via Amazon MGM’s Orion Pictures on May 15.
