During the latest episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the popular host, who, after seeing internet rumors, had continued to spiral about his next career move, officially decided to address it. He revealed that he has heard a lot of interesting theories, like him moving to celebrity.land, starting a massive wildlife rescue program, and also running for president. He admitted that the rumors are partially true before cracking a joke. “Next year, I will be president of an animal sanctuary dedicated to caring for the rare Blitzer Wolf. It’s a captive breeding program. Nobody tell him,” he joked.
Jokes apart, Colbert then moved to officially declare what he’s up to next, initially introducing his hour-long procedural drama coming straight out of headlines. He said, “It’s the gripping tale of two detectives who are also uncles. How can they be both? It ain’t easy, folks.”
He plays the trailer of his fake buddy comedy, Uncle Cops, which features Colbert and John C. Reilly. The story follows Mitch and Bob trying to balance out their careers while being good uncles to their nephews. The trailer poses the question, “Where is the line between duty and love?” referring to the two characters who juggle between personal and professional life.
Moreover, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema earlier announced that Colbert and his son, Peter, will be writing the Lord of the Rings project.
