The Late Show took Melania Trump to task over her new documentary.
On the Wednesday, February 4 episode, Stephen Colbert, 61, welcomed the First Lady, who turned out to be No Hard Feelings actress Laura Benanti, 46, dressed in the same ensemble as Melania wore for her official White House photos. Throughout the interview, she also took on a Slovenian accent and a serious demeanour to portray the former model as accurately as possible.
The host, 61, began asking her about the “big release,” however, the actress interjected, “Oh, Stephen, no. I am not here to talk about the Epstein files.”
After clarifying he was referring to her movie, she rambled on, describing the film as “a deliberate window of tapestry draped over a rich bedframe of insights” that “few have ever seen and even fewer have wanted to.”
Stephen was still left confused and once again asked what it was, leading the Melania impersonator to respond, “It’s about $28 million in my pockets. Chaching,” motioning to spread invisible dollars around the room.
Amazon reportedly paid $40 million to license the film, $28 million of which was reportedly pocketed by the first lady, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Attempting to get more information, Stephen asked about the genre. She responded, “Just like me, it is a very creepy mystery.
“I play Melania, the third wife of an aging billionaire,” she added. “I am moving into a spooky, old mansion called The White House, where I definitely live and sleep with my husband WINK.”
The host went on to question the star’s choice of a director, Brett Ratner, who “multiple women accused of sexual misconduct.”
In the film, Brett and Melania were seen singing to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”
When asked about her “favorite song,” the impersonator said, “Let’s just say it brings a smile to my face every time I look at Eric [Trump] and say, ‘The kid is not my son.’

Shifting gears onto President Donald Trump’s presence in the film’s press run, Stephen pointed out, “Your husband attended your opening,” referencing his appearance at the premiere last week.
The Melania impersonator refuted, “Oh, Stephen, my husband has not attended my opening in years.”
Lastly, she made a dig at someone who left the Trump administration last year.
“Well, according to Amazon, ticket sales have been good here in the U.S., but I understand that it hasn’t done well overseas,” he mentioned. “It was even pulled entirely out of South Africa.”
“They should not have done that. The only person who should have pulled out in South Africa is Elon Musk’s dad,” the actress concluded.
Despite reportedly earning $7 million nationwide, the film did not even cross $50,000 in sales in countries like Italy and the U.K.
