Stephen Colbert was in the middle of taping his Wednesday night episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when he learned the news that pal Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was suspended.
According to members of the studio audience present on Wednesday, September 17, Colbert, 61, was “visibly shaken” by the news, LateNighter reported. The host reportedly “paused for several moments before raising his hand to his mouth in disbelief.”
The talk show host — who is filming his final season after being canceled by CBS earlier this year — took a short break to compose himself and “gather additional information backstage.”
Colbert did not make a statement regarding ABC’s controversial decision at the time, but instead told the crowd he “would address it on Thursday night’s show.” The outlet reported that, after wrapping the closing segment, Colbert “quickly exited the stage.”

As National Enquirer has reported, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled from air indefinitely by ABC after they were pressured by the FCC and station owners nationwide due to comments made by Kimmel on Tuesday night’s show regarding Charlie Kirk‘s death.
As of Thursday, ABC has not announced the long-running talk show’s cancellation. However, in photos obtained by the National Enquirer one day after the news broke, a large crew of movers were seen loading trucks with boxes from the Los Angeles studio.
