Steve Harvey is always on his daughter Lori Harvey’s side after a breakup.
“I’m off limits,” the Family Feud host, 68, said of cutting ties with his daughter’s exes during the Tuesday, September 16, episode of the “Pivot” podcast. “That’s the rule. The rule in our house is any boy that’s [an] ex, he’s now my ex too. I must hate him like we was dating.”
Steve’s assertion about his daughter’s expectations is not merely speculation. Rather he learned from experience.
“I gotta be real careful because Lori, boy, she be in my ass,” he joked. “I can’t make no mistakes.”
Steve went on to recall a time when he tried to act cordial during a public run-in with Lori’s ex, seemingly referring to his encounter with Michael B. Jordan at the 2023 NBA Abu Dhabi Games.
“I saw one of her exes somewhere at a game,” he recounted, “and I shook his hand.”
Steve implied that Lori, 28, shared her frustrations with him after the interaction.
“Boy, I can’t even touch his ass no more,” he quipped. “I better not acknowledge him or look at him or nothing no more.”
Lori dated Jordan, 38, from 2020 to 2022. During their headline-making relationship, Steve publicly expressed his approval of the actor.
“I have tried to find something wrong with him that I could dig in and go — ‘cause I done got rid of all of ‘em,” he noted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021. “All of ‘em. Some of them snuck in the back door on me and lasted a lot longer than I wanted it to.”
“But this guy is such a good guy, man,” he added. “He is one of the nicest guys. I’ve met his father. I’ve sat up with him, we’ve talked for hours. I just can’t find nothing wrong with him.”
In addition to Jordan, Lori was linked to Memphis Depay from 2016 to 2018, Trey Songz from 2018 to 2019, Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2019, Future from 2019 to 2020 and Damson Idris in 2023.
