According to Deadline, Steven Soderbergh has finally been able to talk about his script for The Hunt for Ben Solo due to an increased media presence surrounding the canceled film. While the sequel trilogy is less than popular, Ben Solo is largely considered the best thing to come out of the new trilogy. Yet, even with extended fan outroar, it’s very unlikely that such a film will ever actually be made. For all intents and purposes, it appears like Disney has moved away from the Skywalker saga in favor of telling other tales within the overall universe.
“For the record, I did not enjoy lying about the existence of ‘THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO’, but it really did need to remain a secret…until now!” Soderbergh wrote on BlueSky
The fact that the actor had to be so coy concerning the canned film isn’t surprising whatsoever. There is a huge amount of NDA’s and red tape surrounding every project. If a director or scriptwriter were to slip and reveal too much, they could be barred from the industry forever. That said, it appears that Steven has finally been given the opportunity to discuss his canceled film in greater detail. Nevertheless, just because he has gotten to discuss it doesn’t mean that the film will ever actually be made.
Overall, Star Wars is one of the most popular franchises of all time. Yet, its fans are extremely critical of nearly every project to come out. This might even be one of the rare cases where a spinoff could actually be more successful than the original series. However, there is little to no chance the film will ever actually get created.
