The comments about Molly-Mae Hague are so degrading
Molly-Mae Hague posted photos from her dreamlike holiday to the Maldives on Instagram and was instantly flooded with speculative comments about whether she was pregnant or not.
Within minutes of sharing her personal holiday snapshots with her followers, fans of the influencer quickly questioned if she was pregnant with her second child.
The swift response and insensitive speculation left us feeling pretty disappointed in society. And what was extremely troubling about the comments was that most of them were from other women.
Women who should know better than to speculate about pregnancy when there are so many struggles women face to get to that stage. Molly-Mae herself suffers from endometriosis, yet people felt the need to spread rumours about her family plans because of how she looked.
One commented, “Does anyone else think Molly is pregnant?”
Another said, “I think a baby is on the way.”
“I want to be the first to say congratulations on baby Fury number 2!” said another.
Why do people feel the need to speculate about pregnancy and comment on (her perfectly normal) body? We don’t know what challenges she may face, or if she even wants to have another child. Also, shouldn’t it be left to the person who is pregnant to share the news rather than a bunch of strangers on the internet speculating about it?
Thankfully, others slated those who were commenting on Molly’s body and berated them for speculating about something as sensitive as pregnancy.
One wrote, “Pregnancy is a very sensitive subject, and none of us knows what Molly’s situation is. It’s inappropriate to comment on pregnancy or on another woman’s body unless she has chosen to address it herself.”
Another wrote, “It’s 2026, let’s make it normal NOT to comment on women’s bodies. These comments are disgusting. She doesn’t look pregnant at all. She looks happy, healthy, and in love with her daughter and partner. Grow up.”
“‘I have a feeling she’s pregnant,’ well, keep it to yourself!!! Literally nobody else’s business. It’s crazy that in this day and age, people are STILL making unsolicited comments about how people look,” said another.
If Molly-Mae is expecting, then she’ll announce it when she’s ready. It isn’t up to her ‘fans’ to speculate about something as sensitive as pregnancy, especially in the comments of an Instagram post.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we left our obsession with women’s bodies and the notion that our sole responsibility is to procreate behind in 2025?
