Stranger Things star looks unrecognizable years after debut – Celebrity News – Entertainment

Shannon Purser has drastically changed since her last appearance on Stranger Things.

It’s been nine years since the actress made her debut on the hit Netflix series as Barbara “Barb” Holland in 2016. She was only 19-years-old when she last appeared and fans are shocked at how much her looks have matured since then.

Earlier this month on November 6, Shannon attended the Stranger Things season five premiere in Los Angeles. As she walked the red carpet, she looked unrecognizable sporting a grunge look. The actress appeared in a black pinstriped suit and a matching pair of patent leather platform loafers.

The now 28-year-old actress completed the look with a daring cat-eye look and a curly pixie cut.

When she took to Instagram with photos from the night, many flooded the comment section amazed at her transformation.

One said, “JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED” and another added, “She looks so much different but she still looks verry beautiful (sic).”

A third chimed in, “Upside down Barb,” along with an array of fire and clapping emojis.

While many were praising the actress, she was giving her admiration to the horror series, which she said has changed her life.

She wrote, “Stranger Things changed my life 10 years ago and opened the door to the career of my dreams. I’m truly, eternally grateful to have been a part of something so special. Thank you Duffer bros, thank you @carmencubacasts, thank you Barb.”

After receiving an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in Stranger Things, Shannon went on to star in other hit projects like Riverdale, Wish Upon and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.

While her character might have died early on in the storyline, the rest of the cast from season one are still stuck battling the evil that haunts the fictional town of Hawkins.

The fifth season will begin in the Fall of 1987, four years after Shannon’s character was last seen.

The storyline will focus on the characters finding and defeating Vecna “once and for all.” Their mission is complicated due to the town’s military quarantine and intensified hunt for Eleven.

While speaking to Tudum, the series co-creators Matt and Russ Duffer shared this season will be very different than the ones that came before since “nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore.”

“I think what’s unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4,” he said. “We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.

“The action is next level, the visual effects are next level, but I’m also happy to say that the emotional center remains the same.” executive producer Shawn Levy added.

“Part of the magic of this show is that even as we evolve, even as the storytelling becomes more epic, it’s always anchored in these characters that we love,” he concluded.

Volume one of Stranger Things season five premieres on Netflix on November 26 while Volume 2 will be released on December 25, and the finale on December 31.
