‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Star Arrested On Suspicion Of Rape

A second former Strictly Come Dancing star has been arrested for rape in the space of just two months.

The news, first revealed by The Sun, comes with the hit BBC entertianment show continuing to remain in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The arrest is understood to relate to last year’s show and not the current series. The individual has not been named and the news comes just two months after a different star was arrested on suspicion of rape and “non-consensual intimate image abuse,” which also did not relate to this current series. The Sun reported that the man was arrested last month and the woman who claims she was assaulted was not a contestant or pro dancer on the show.

Police in Hertfordshire, South England, where Strictly is filmed, last night confirmed the arrest and said that inquiries are continuing.

“It would not be appropriate to comment on an ongoing police investigation,” said a BBC spokeswoman.

Strictly was hit by a string of scandals last year and this has continued into 2025. Two dancers last year exited the show after one was accused of bullying and misconduct, and the other of kicking a dance partner. This year, there have been allegations of cocaine abuse on set, which the BBC has hired a law firm to probe.

In amidst all this scandal, hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced their exits midway through the current series.
