Spielberg back in alien territory with ‘Disclosure Day’

The San Francisco Chronicle is thrilled to invite subscribers to a free screening of the highly anticipated new biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” starring Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White of the hit series “The Bear.”

This special Datebook event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at AMC Metreon 16 in downtown San Francisco before the film’s nationwide premiere on Friday, Oct. 24.

Chronicle Senior Arts & Entertainment Editor Mariecar Mendoza will introduce the film alongside Editor in Chief Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, a devoted Springsteen fan who proudly admits to having 37 versions of “Thunder Road” on his phone.

Tickets are free for current subscribers with RSVP. To reserve your seat, click here.

Directed by Scott Cooper and based on Warren Zanes’ acclaimed 2003 biography of Bruce Springsteen, the film explores a defining chapter in the singer’s career – when he stepped away from fame to record his haunting 1982 album “Nebraska” alone on a four-track recorder in his New Jersey home.

With White playing The Boss, “Deliver Me from Nowhere” captures both the quiet genius and emotional depths behind one of rock’s most intimate works.

The film comes to the city more than a year after Springsteen’s two sold-out shows at Chase Center in March 2024 – his first concerts in San Francisco in more than two decades.

Tickets are limited. To reserve yours, click here.
