From live music and theater to a fresh farm experience, we’re inviting everyone in the community to enjoy the best part of summer at Christopher A. Doherty Park! Here’s a glimpse into what’s coming your way at the pocket park on the corner of Linden St. and Wyoming Ave. in Downtown Scranton:
Farm Fresh Tuesdays
Every Tuesday you can buy fresh produce and more from Hopkins Farms and baked goods from Cypress House Bakery at the new Electric City Farmers Market. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with live music from noon to 2 p.m.
“This is an ideal location for a farmers market,” said Liz Baldi, business development director, Scranton Tomorrow. “We saw this as an opportunity to address a downtown need and serve the many eateries eager to offer farm-to-table options in the business district. This is a convenient way for people who live and work downtown to buy locally grown fruits and veggies, and fresh baked goods within walking distance.”
The Electric City Farmers Market is a project of Scranton Tomorrow supported by the Architectural Heritage Association (AHA).
The Return of Pocket Park Live!
Now in its third year, Pocket Park Live is a celebration of art and culture with free concerts and theatrical performances in the park for all to enjoy. A project of Scranton Tomorrow and the City of Scranton Arts Committee, the series kicks off on Aug. 7 with NEPA Jazz Project from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Doug Smith’s Dixieland All-Stars with special guest vocalist Tara Michel from 6 to 8 p.m.
“We’re celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with an Armed Forces medley for a portion of the show,” Smith said. “Expect an uplifting performance with musical improvisation and strong vocals from Tara Michel.” A subgenre of Jazz, Dixieland dates back to early 20th century America. This style of music is one of the country’s earliest original art forms.

- Sept. 4 – Scranton Fringe Festival Preview, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Oct. 2 & 3 – Scranton Fringe Festival, “The Wind in the Willows,” 6:30 to 8 p.m.
