When the weather warms, open-air stages in Northwest Arkansas pump out the soundtracks of summer. Settings for the region’s outdoor music scene range from VIP seats at the Walmart AMP in Rogers to blankets on the grass at Gulley Park in Fayetteville. Concert lineups span genres from country and blues to indie rock and electronic.

Here’s where to experience the best outdoor music events in Northwest Arkansas this summer.

Walmart AMP

Located along Interstate 49 in Rogers, this premier outdoor concert venue holds more than 9,500 people, with 3,200 covered seats and additional general admission seating on a sloped lawn. It has air-conditioned concessions and restrooms, a permanent pavilion and the biggest stage house in Arkansas. Major acts across every genre of the music industry play here.

Railyard Live

A steady lineup of live music streams from downtown Rogers in warmer months. Railyard Live concerts on Fridays and Saturdays are held at the Butterfield Stage, an outdoor pavilion designed for live music. Reserve tables and chairs on the paved area under a canopy or set up blankets and chairs on the spacious lawn under the night sky. Rotating vendors serve food and alcoholic beverages. Concertgoers can also bring drinks in from restaurants that participate in the Railyard Entertainment District. The historic downtown has free parking, local shops and eateries.

The Momentary

In Bentonville, the Momentary is a decommissioned cheese factory turned contemporary art space for visual and performing arts, culinary experiences, festivals, artists-in-residence and more. The venue hosts a variety of outdoor live music experiences on the Momentary Green, a dedicated outdoor concert lawn. The Live on the Green concert series brings nationally touring artists and acclaimed regional musicians for performances throughout spring, summer and early fall. Music lineups have included major acts such as Jon Batiste, John Legend, Deadmau5 and Patti LaBelle. Shows range from pop, rock and roots music to electronic, country and R&B. Food trucks and drink vendors serve on-site. The Momentary also offers Free Fridays on the Green and multi-day festivals on varying dates, plus an indoor concert series year-round.

Kingfish

A popular summer music venue in Fayetteville’s downtown entertainment district, Kingfish has a small outdoor stage, a large lawn with picnic tables and room to dance, plus two large decks. Bands play two to three nights a week, mainly on weekends. There’s no cover charge. Open since 2010, this dive bar is dog-friendly, popular with locals and only for ages 21 and older.

Prairie Street Live

Another Fayetteville venue, Prairie Street Live has two outdoor stages, a full bar and events ranging from private parties to music festivals. Thursdays highlight original, local and regional talent. Watch the schedule for additional music throughout the year. Most shows are all-ages.

Gulley Park Summer Concert Series

Family-friendly, dog-friendly and oh-so-Fayetteville, this weekly summer concert series turns a large city park into an open-air stage for funk, bluegrass, country and more. Kids dance barefoot in the grass, vendors sell food and wares, and people gather to share summer sounds and camaraderie. People drive, walk and bike to Gulley Park, which can be accessed via the Razorback Greenway.

Artosphere

This annual May festival transforms Fayetteville’s green spaces into stages for art and music. Walk or bike the Lower and Upper Ramble trails to discover live performances and art installations, or catch outdoor concerts at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, Fayetteville Public Library glade and atop Mount Sequoyah. The nature-themed programming includes everything from woodwind quartets combined with bird-watching sessions to outdoor yoga and concerts amid the downtown square gardens. Local and regional artists perform throughout the multi-day event at venues across the city.

Turnbow Park

Downtown Springdale’s seasonal live music destination, Turnbow Park is home to the LIVE! at Turnbow outdoor concert series. These free, family-friendly live music events take place on the last Thursday of the month, usually April through September. The series spotlights local artists and cultural diversity. Concertgoers are encouraged to explore downtown, dine at local restaurants and enjoy drinks throughout the outdoor dining district, where they can purchase beverages from participating businesses and carry them while listening to the music.

Summer Music Festivals

Summer music festivals include the Peacemaker Festival in Fort Smith and the Eureka Springs Blues Party. Read about Arkansas music festivals across The Natural State here.

What to Know

Seasonal outdoor stages book music shows from late spring through fall, with the summer months packed with concerts. Always call ahead or check social media for updates regarding inclement weather.

While blankets and chairs are welcome at most venues with lawns, some venues have restrictions for select concerts. Each location differs in guidelines.
